Watercolor of elephant in my sketch book. Might make this into a real finished painting, either watercolor or acrylic, for my mom, as she likes elephants. I can't decide. If I make it bigger he'll have to have wrinkles and the like and be not so much loose and easy fun.
I love the subtle colours. I also like the style it's nice smooth. I reckon you could do it bigger and yet keep it this simple, it would still look great.
Thank you. Maybe I will try it big and smooth still, I'm just not sure it'll still look okay without the wrinkley details that are an elephant's defining characteristic.
I like this, your watercolors are subtle and more like...watercolors than mine. Many people mistake my watercolors for acrylics I cannot seem to be loose...yet
Because I paint...tight, so I cannot help it Believe it or not, I'm also impatient, so it is kind of odd that I seem to take time. Only I could tell I usually stop before I'm quite sastisfied... due to my impatience
I love the freedom you are showing in this sketch. The subtle blending of colors you have harmonized with the greys is beautiful! the watercolor is creating a lot of visual texture with the granulation it naturally does. I think it is making texture so I don't really miss the wrinkinlyness of the elephant. If you are interested, here is how I would get some of that wrinkliness in, by using a very small brush and put a few wrinkly lines in with a faily dark grey. You may have to leave some extra white areas for highlight on the wrinkles to show them in dimension.
I love this sketch. I know you will be able to make a piece your mom loves.
